In our society, selfish has been deemed a bad word. In that right, we've almost gotten too selfless where we don't even know who we are. In the past, I didn't want to be selfish because that's greedy, that's not nice, I should help others first. And while this is true, we do need to have a real balance in life, the push and the pull. We have a basic necessity to be selfish, not solely acting selfishly but consciously selfish, as we make decisions. When I set boundaries and claim what is mine and stand up for who I am, and make sure I'm taking care of myself and my family, I am then stronger to help more people. So what may seem like a selfish act, can actually be selfless. It is both. It is the and. It is one. Being selfish, consciously selfish, is part of the greater good. Peace.
