J.P. Hogan brings an interesting dichotomy to the iMatter team. While deeply engaged with the spiritual aspects of the iMatter ideology, JP is also a retired U.S. Army Colonel and goal-driven business leader.
In JP's 29-plus years of active service, he served in Southeast and Northeast Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and in the Pacific. He was selected as a commanding officer at multiple levels, including positions as an Operations and Logistics staff officer for major US Army units overseas, and Chief of Staff for two different senior military staffs.
After retiring from active duty, JP served as a senior consultant/strategic planner for Joint Task Force (JTF) 519 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The JTF is the senior military headquarters for rapid response to situations in the Pacific. In this role, JP offered senior-level mentorship for JTF's leaders, provided direct support to operational planning and execution, designed the JTF Knowledge Management System and served as a primary architect of the JTF decision-making process.
Following his military service, JP spent more than 10 years working with automotive companies as a consultant and strategic planner. As a Senior Business Analyst with MSX-International, he helped clients to assess current business circumstances and define opportunities for improved performance. He provided in-plant consultative services to manufacturing management and labor leadership at several Ford locales, managed a group of in-plant training consultants in Visteon faciliites, and provided mentorship support to senior management personnel within DaimlerChrysler. More recently, as a Senior Solutions Consultant with R.L. Polk, JP provided strategic and operational planning support to several automotive OEMs across a wide range of functional areas, including product launch planning, loyalty, and after-sales operations.
JP completed undergraduate work at Eastern Michigan University, earned a Masters of Public Administration at Shippensburg University and completed post graduate work in Strategic Studies at the US Army Senior Service College at Carlisle, Pennsyvlania.
The consistent thread through JP's varied experiences is his appreciation for what the human soul undergoes in tense situations faced by senior leaders in the public, private and military sectors. This has given him an understanding of the power of sharing, the value of clarity and the importance of knowing what matters most.
